Does your website design play by the rules?

From 1st March 2011, the UK code of Non-broadcasting advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing has applied to marketing messages on the internet.
Last week it was announced that EU legislation will change on 25th May 2011 to control the use of tracking cookies on the web.
How about web accessibility – have you got that covered off? Can someone who is visually impaired still access all the content? Can your website be navigated without the use of a mouse, but by keyboard instead if needed?
What about webmaster guidelines from Google to ensure that your site is found, indexed and ranked correctly on Google?
Is it possible that any of your content has been copied from anywhere else (online or offline)? Have you used any images that you’ve taken from Google without checking copyright? Have you copied terms and conditions from elsewhere? Are you aware of all the laws and rules that apply to your website?
With all the changes that have been made to legislation lately, and the need to make your website as accessible as possible to reach the widest audience possible, along with a goal of making it as high up the search engines as you can, it makes this a great time to conduct a full website evaluation now.
If you’ve not yet got your business online, be sure to ask your website design company whether they will ensure that your website will comply with all of the above. At Covenant Solutions we comply with all website laws and guidelines when we design/redesign your site, without compromising on the appearance (check out our portfolio!) or the quality of your content. We work alongside our clients as a partnership, and we do well when they do well, it’s just a part of the experience you can expect with us.
